Profession - IT Professional

The direction I choose for this profession was to show the superhero-like quality these individuals will possess someday. Perhaps a cape is missing, or shiny boots, or even a sidekick like Robin, he could be the IT assistant. When I say superhero, I mean like a modern day "Indiana Jones" or "Clark Kent". IT professional's will be hero's, not now, but in the future, when we rely on day to day living with computers. We will depend on them like we do a mechanic who can easily get away with charging us $70+ an hour. It will be a necessity. Sadly, we will all fall victim to this tragedy of technology.

My art teacher once told me to choose a profession that a computer can't do, or do something you need a computer to do. Not sure where he was going with that, he was often high for the majority of his day. He never seemed to want to open the windows when we were painting.

Eat More Fruit.

Eat more Guava! Now to me, that would be the more appropriate title. My best friend, or as some would say, "My Buddy" did an ad for his marketing class and it was to raise awareness about fruit and such...blah,blah...anyway, his billboard was simply "Eat more Guava" with a yellow backdrop. Mind you, he had full access to a Graphic Designer at his disposal, he choose to keep it simple. I thought it was brilliant. Maybe it's just me. But if I was driving on the highway and I saw that I would want one. Maybe I just like saying guava...GUAVA. his other billboard also included "Eat more KumKwats", seriously, when is the last time you had a hankering for KumKwats?

What a great ending to a Power Point presentation on nutrition. Dietitians...it's all your's. Maybe someday. In the meantime here is an illustration that I rendered with pencil, a little different from my clean lines. I like it. Perhaps a change. "Use more Pencil".

Profession - Underwater basket weaver

As promised, 

Above or below water it's important that you dress professional, yet still be comfortable in your work attire; and no weaver would be complete without a white smock and the finest grade japanese Geta Sandals money can buy. FYI: socks and sandals are allowed, together, underwater. Mainly due to the fact that the majority of your body temperature is lost through your toes. Especially the pinky, not the one who ate roast beef.

 

While the vigors of everyday weaving can fatigue the best of the best, a little known fact is, that by introducing the "Lotus position" into your daily routine, you can be comfortable, calm, focused and quite functional, all while increasing your productivity by 10-20%.

Profession - Doctor

Wanted to do a series of sketches to practice my character design skills. Wrote a list of 70+ professions and hope...that being the operative word here, to finish all of them. So this being the start, a doctor was the first occupation that I came up with? Not sure why I didn't think of sketching an underwater basket weaver. Now that's a skill not paralleled by any upstanding career. Alright it's settled... I will draw a Juilliard trained underwater basket weaver as the next sketch.

Groundhog Day

It was very sunny today where I am from. Poor little groundhog definitely seen his shadow, not sure it looked like this, then again, to me that's what winter can sometimes feel like. I'll bet the shadow has bad breath, stinky even...like the smell of sweaty deviled eggs that were left out too long. 

I guess were in for 6 more weeks of winter...no response.

The Unsanitary Chef

Chef: I a gonna make you a lasagna, and its a gonna be Succulent.

Patron: Can I kindly ask that you wash your hands.

Chef: It's gonna be Succulent!

Patron: O.K...I work for a Health Unit, and it's imperative that you practice cleanliness and demonstrate a sensitivity to being hygenic. Have you heard of our "Safe Food Counts" Program? It requires all restuarants to undergo a health safety inspection?

Chef: Succulent.

If I told you, you would've had to be there. Trust me. I was, and I wish I wasn't.

Illustration Friday - Pale

Choose to do a Victorian style illustration for this week’s IF theme. The PALE face was the inspiration to this porcelain beauty. Thought that if the fabric and hair were busy enough it would all mesh together and the simplicity of the face would pop out. Not sure it comes across though.

The Farmer, The Pig and my Uncle?

This illustration first came about when I was discussing the Local agriculture industry and that not your every day farmer will enroll in a post secondary education. The selected few that do, are called an “Aggy”. While in no way does this represent an Aggy it does have some elements of hometown farmer charm.

 On a further note,

When my Dad (Kenny) gets out of form and shows his happy side that’s filled with joy, laughter and knee slappin hoe down, throw down, “bring it” type shenanigans, I can always count on him to say “ I haven’t had this much fun since the pigs ate my little brother”. When he first pulled that out of his repertoire, I was laughing uncontrollable ( note: he does not, nor has he ever, had a brother, only a sister) , it was definitely a “had to be there kinda moment”. So this goes out to you dad….and the pig that ate your little brother, we wish he could be here to laugh it up with us…

Loosey Goosey

Heard this phrase during a meeting today, made me think of this overly relaxed goose, down in the Caribbean, sucking on an ice cold mojito, jammin out to some old school Public Enemy with Spring being the furthest from his mind.

Wasn’t sure how it was correctly spelt, leave it to Merriam Webster to have a secured location for this forgotten phrase – Loosey Goosey  = notably loose or relaxed : not tense  loosey–goosey attitude>

Funny how some words have their place, personally I would like to see someone resurrect the word “Rad” start throwing that around during a meeting. Yikes.

From one night owl to another...

Was sent a Night Owl by text  [8>]< , was actually kinda funny lookin. Made me think about what else I could create with the symbols on my phone. Yes I do realize that phones are actually quite capable of sending pictures, videos and music. Simple as it was, It was fun to recreate the owl, although I must say, nothing beats the pencil!
